SOLOは「人が人であるための光」をテーマに、内省と没頭を設計するポータブル照明。新開発した斜めに切り取られたシェードと60度の配光が、手元だけに穏やかなスポットを落とし、視界と思考のノイズを取り払います。
ラインナップは、タイムレスなシルエットのデスクライトと、H1100mmのスタンドライトの2種をご用意しました。スタンドはソファの背面に置けば読書する手元だけを、ダイニングテーブル脇では卓の中心だけをそっと照らし、会話と余白を生む環境を整えます。どちらも軽やかに持ち運べるポータブル設計で、周囲の輝度を整え、デジタルデバイスとも静かに調和します。
カラーは絹のような白、鋳肌を思わせるマットブラック、鮮やかなグリーンの3色を展開。それぞれに、精密な工業技術にクラフトの質感が息づく独自の仕上げを施しました。思いに耽ったり、熟考したり──個の時間に寄り添い、内省と没頭を静かに支える、全く新しい灯りです。
SOLO is a portable light designed to create time for reflection and deep focus. A newly developed, diagonally cut shade with a 60‑degree distribution places a gentle spotlight only on the hands and clears visual and mental noise.
The lineup offers two types: a timeless desk lamp and a 1,100‑mm stand lamp. The stand softly lights only what’s needed—just the hands when placed behind a sofa for reading, or only the center of a dining table—creating room for conversation and calm. Both models are easy to carry and calibrated to harmonize with digital devices by balancing ambient luminance.
The color palette consists of silk‑like white, matte black reminiscent of cast texture, and a vivid green. Each finish blends industrial precision with crafted tactility. SOLO gently supports contemplation and immersion as a new kind of light for personal time.
すべての始まりは、ある友禅作家の制作風景でした。頬杖をつき、時に机で頭を抱えながら、ただひたすらに夢中になり没頭する瞬間。その光に照らされた横顔を見たとき、従来にない――「自分自身」のための時間を照らす光をつくりたいと思ったのです。
こだわったのは、タイムレスなシェイプと、必要な角度で必要な場所だけを照らす新しい60度の照射設計。手元を効率よく照らしつつも、視界や思考にノイズを与えないバランスを求め、YAMAGIWAと幾度も試行錯誤を重ねました。ライフスタイルやシーンに応じて選べる2タイプの展開に加え、工業製品でありながらクラフトの表情をまとう3色の仕上げも、ぜひご注目ください。
AIなどのテクノロジーが急速に進化するいま、「人」を定義づけるうえで思索は欠かせないはず。だからこそSOLOでは、デザインありきではなく「人が人であるための光とは何か」に向き合いました。手元に差す一筋の光が、使う方自身の輪郭を浮かび上がらせ、その人だけの思考を深める原動力となれば、それ以上の喜びはありません。
It began with the scene of a yūzen artist at work—utterly absorbed. Seeing a profile illuminated by quiet light, we wanted to design a light that shines for “one’s own time.”
We pursued a timeless form and a new 60‑degree illumination that lights only where needed at the exact angle. Working with YAMAGIWA through many iterations, we balanced efficient hand lighting with minimal visual distraction. In addition to two types for different lifestyles and scenes, the three crafted finishes are also key to the experience.
As technology accelerates, reflection remains essential to what makes us human. Rather than starting from form, SOLO asks: “What is light for people to be people?” A single beam to the hands reveals one’s contours and fuels individual thinking.

2020年、YAMAGIWAから「創業100周年を象徴する灯りをつくりたい」と相談を受けました。SOLOの発表までに要したのは4年。100年を振り返れば、強い光が復興や成長の象徴だった時代がありました。いま、豊かさの意味は変わりつつあります。だからこそ私たちは、個に寄り添い、手元だけをそっと照らす「人のための光」をデザインしました。
インタビュー動画では、デザインの原点やコンセプトに至る思考のプロセス、斜めに切り取られたシェードと光の開発、3色の仕上げ、そしてデスク／スタンドそれぞれの役割を 鈴木啓太が語りました。
